Comments: Was an old friend of Herb Juliano who died in February of 1998. He was associated with ND for some fifty years. A few years before he died he wrote the book "Notre Dame Odyssey."I have the first autographed copy. The book needs to be promoted more. He is buried on campus in the ND cemetery. A couple of years ago we had the pleasure of meeting Ron Powlus,Autry Denson and Allen Rossum, they were not only great players but more important they were great guys with a lot of class, which says a lot about the caliber of Notre Dame students. We were both very impressed and will never forget that day,and still follow thier careers with great pride. As always we will cheer for the Irish even though we are surrounded by Penn State fans. He now lives in Beaumont Texas with his family so he only comes up for one game a year. The rest of his tickets are used by my wife Peg and I. We are big Irish fans and miss very few home games.

Comments: Hi Mike, Great Site. Just had a question. There is a song that the band plays right after ND scores a TD and it's not the fight song. Can you tell me what it is and can we get it included as one of the band selections on your page. There are a lot of USC fans where I work, out here in SoCal, and I love to fire up the fight song every now and then. BTW I took my wife and son and daughter, 2 1/2 year old twins, to see the ND Concert Band on March 8th out here. It was the bands first trip to SoCal and they were absolutely fantastic. It was great when the broke into the fight song. I plan to bring the family to ND next spring for the Blue and Gold game. The kids will be almost four and I will have them running blitz packages and line stunts by then. It will be our first trip to ND. We can't wait. Oh well gotta go. When I was a kid I had my room painted blue & gold & had pictures of Joe Theisman & the 4 Horseman (signed by 3 of the 4), etc., Instead of a girls pink room, my daughter could sing the fight song as soon as she could talk. After my grandma's funeral we watched the 1992 Penn St. game. That one was for you grandma. Printed out the stadium @ 12:00 yesterday & took it over to my dad, he could not believe it (he's the one that brainwashed me). My husband is a fanatic also ~ he knows everything. We played the fight song at our wedding. We bumped into Chris Zorich at the 1989 U.S.C. game, after the pep rally, what a great guy, he is my all time favorite to watch on the field ~ what intensity (remember that game ~ down by 10 at half time). I sent him a sympathy card after his mother's death and he actually send me a thank-you card. He is everything that notre dame is about & not a bad football too! I'm sorry that I have gone on so long, but this is pure heaven. My husband is going to kill me for exposing how crazy we are. Oh well... GO IRISH & GO MIKE!! Thanks....

Comments: I work in radio at "The River" in Harrisburg, PA...right in the heart of Penn State territory!!! But, like any good ND boy, I brag up my Irish no matter where I am. The great thing is, I can do this over the airwaves...and I do!!! By the way, loved watching the Nittany Lions get destroyed and demolished by the Buckeyes... was able to rub it in with some of my PSU friends!!! Comments: Good page. Quit whining about where ND wound up in the final polls. Anybody who follows college football knows the voters vote according to how the teams were playing at the end of the year. Even though UT lost in the Sugar Bowl, they did win every game after the loss to ND. Beware of the Texas summer heat. I predict Holtz will not be able to condition the ND football team well enough to withstand it.

Comments: I disagree that Holtz should be replaced. He has done nothing to hurt the integrity of ND football. Holtz is not the reason for recent ND failures on the field. The only problem with the football program is simple and fixable. Something has been missing the past two seasons. That something is "Heart". The past two teams lacked this one key element that is essential to rise to the next level. I believe that this year will be different. "GO IRISH".

I feel with coach Chmiel in charge of recruiting, we can count on another top class next year too. I'm up here in "Hukster" country and these net pages are certainly a nice change from the Big Red propaganda I see all year long. Comments: I live and die with the Irish sports programs. I subscribe to the South Bend Tribune in order to keep up with ND sports events. I'm an avid recruiter buff. I think the Irish had a decent season in 95; After a lack lusture start, the season seemed to come together toward the end. My only complaint with the 96 schedule is the lack of an East Coast apprearance other than Boston College, which is already sold out. Have been an Irish fan since the late 50's. Became hooked when my Dad took me to two Navy-Notre Dame contests at the old JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, including one of Ara's national title teams. The image of 100,000 plus fans, most of whom were rooting for the Irish, is a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life. From that moment on, I became a member of the "Subway Alumni" and understood why the Irish never really play a road game. In the last few years I have caught the following games: the 1995 Army game at the Meadowlands in North Jersey; the 1993 Navy game in Philadelphia; the last three games at Pittsburgh; and my only trip to South Bend, in 1989, against Michigan State. God Bless Lou and the Irish!
